.. _gen_fan_2013: Fan et al. 2013 water table depth dataset, subset to CONUS2 domain ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ A subset of the site-level long-term mean water table depth measurements for sites included in `Fan et al. 2013 `_. These sites are subset to only those within the `CONUS2 `_ boundary and include data that the authors used in this publication and are up to 12/31/2009. **Dataset Name**: fan_2013 **Data Source**: fan_2013 **Data Collection or Processing Notes:** Details on the initial data processing and collection are provided in `Fan et al. 2013 `_. The data provided here was acquired from an offline communication with the main author. Data was filtered to the CONUS2 domain and all sites were also mapped to the Natural Earth state boundary shapefiles to include each site's state, where this mapping was unambiguous. This dataset contained site identifiers common with the USGS. Therefore, site-level attributes from the USGS are displayed for sites that are still presently available in the USGS groundwater data portal. Notes: - The data included here is only a subset of the data in the original paper to the CONUS2 geographic domain. - The data included in this dataset are a static entry matching only what was in the publication. For up to date groundwater records refer to the `USGS NWIS well dataset `_, which is updated regularly with the most recent observations. **Citations:** Please refer to the following citations for more information on this dataset and cite them if you use the data * https://doi.org/10.1126/science.1229881 **Extent and Resolution**: * Available Date Range: 1927-01-01 to 2009-12-31 Variables ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This describes the available variables of the dataset. Use the dataset, variables and temporal_resolution in python access functions as described in the Working with Gridded Data, and Working with Point Observations. .. list-table:: Subsurface Variables :widths: 25 60 30 20 20 :header-rows: 1 * - variable - description - temporal_resolution - units - 3D * - water_table_depth - Water table depth - long_term - m - no
